The Burlington Project is currently in the project development phase with the goal of breaking ground in the fall of 2024. Throughout the iterative design process, Rhizome has worked closely with Rory Burmeister of Abode Designs and the home owners giving feedback on design opportunities, constructability, and cost. This exciting project takes a thoughtful approach to adding much needed space to an existing small home while seeking opportunities to minimize environmental impacts.

Concept 1: Add a second story with extensive new deck space to the front and back of the home while staying within the existing footprint to minimize foundation work and keep costs down.

Concept 2: Build an addition of the front of the house and add extensive new covered deck space at both the front and back of the home. This approach involves substantial foundation work but preserves much of the existing roof
